Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 Unavailable

Adobe is not offering Acrobat Standard 9 for Windows under the academic volume pricing contract. Therefore, only Acrobat Pro 9 will be available through Software Depot.

Adobe has released Acrobat Pro 9 for Windows and Mac. The new version will be available in the new Software Depot Library on July 1.



Software Depot Media Check-out

The Software Depot will be closed for purchased media pick-ups or deliveries and/or loaner CD requests/pick-ups from Wednesday, June 18, through Wednesday, June 25.

The front desk (Phelps 1517) will be open from 8:00 to 5:00, for any loaner media to be dropped off that is picked up between Wednesday, June 11 and Friday, June 13.

Any purchase pickups or loaner media transactions requested for Monday, June 16 through Tuesday June 17, must be scheduled for specific pick-up times.

Any requests for loaner CD's sent on between Wednesday June 18 through Wednesday, June 25, will be acknowledged on Thursday, June 26.



Microsoft OS for the Macintosh

If you want to install a Microsoft Operating System on your Intel Mac, you must order the current license with Software Assurance in order to be compliant with Microsoft's licensing. This is per our Microsoft rep.

Microsoft Orders update

All Microsoft orders are temporarily on hold, as we wait for the contract renewal to be finalized with our reseller. Orders are expected to be placed by the end of the week, but fulfillment may be delayed a few days.



Symantec Norton Antivirus for the Mac: Problems with Leopard

Problems have been reported with the 10.0 version of Symantec's Norton Antivirus for the Mac. Version 10.2 has been released as a minor fix to the problems. It does not work for everyone using Leopard. Version 11 has been released to the public, but is not yet available under our contract. Updates will be posted as they are available.



Mathematica 6.0.2 Macintosh version unavailable

The 6.0.2 version of Mathematica for the Mac is not available at this time. It has been removed from availability due to a reported bug in the program. It will be made available again when Wolfram updates the program. In the mean time, you can still use the previous versions that are available.



JMP 7.0.2 update

Microsoft Office 2008 for Macintosh is Now Available

The license and media for the Mac Office 2008 is now available for purchase in the Software Depot Library.

The expected availability of this product in the Software Depot Library is the end of next week. A notice will be sent out if it is available sooner. Please make a note that we are not able to sell the Student/ Home Office license. If you have requests for these versions, please direct them to the Bookstore to purchase these particular products. Software Depot is only allowed to sell one Office 2008 version. Please share this information with your users and others in your depts.

Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac

Office 2008 for Macintosh is being unveiled to the public on January 15 at MacWorld. The volume license products are not expected to reach us until some time in February. There is no exact date, yet, of when it will be available.

A notice will be posted on this News site when it is available to order through Software Depot.



Microsoft products

Microsoft products in the Software Depot are available to order until the end of January. February 1st Microsoft is changing some of the product part numbers and titles. The part number change will not affect the part numbers in the Software Depot.

Pricing may change on some products as new contracts go into effect in February. The exact changes are not known yet. The current Software Assurance contract expires at the end of January for all Microsoft orders that have been purchased with the added Software Assurance. A new contract is being worked out.



Microsoft products on hold

Microsoft is currently updating the products and part numbers that are available to the UC for individual, departmental orders. Software Depot orders are currently on hold until this process is completed with our reseller. The ETA on this is Tuesday, January 8. This means that any new orders submitted to Software Depot will be placed with the reseller after Tuesday. This includes any orders that were submitted on Thursday or Friday (January 3 or 4).
